Healthcare starts with Self care

The Restoration Room is part of TherapyAid!

What is TherapyAid?

TherapyAid is a Not for Profit Organisation running a pilot scheme. Their vision is to give unpaid carers access to free complementary therapy.

TherapyAid's mission is to answer the question “who cares for the carers?”.  There is a saying "you can't put from an empty cup". TherapyAid understands that a carers own self-care is crucial to the health of those they are responsible for.  Complementary therapies could help carers address issues such as pain, fatigue, stress, mental health issues and isolation enabling them to support their loved ones more easily.

Who is a carer?

A carer is anyone, including children and adults who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid.

There are 100,000 unpaid carers in Norfolk.

There are around seven million carers in the UK – that's one in ten people. This is rising. Three in five people will be carers at some point in their lives in the UK. Out of the UK's carers, 42% of carers are men and 58% are women.

How will TherapyAid work?

The vision is to have a network of participating therapists providing massage, reflexology and other beneficial therapies and then pair these therapists with carers in their local area.

Carers can self refer or be referred by their GP, but all referrals must be sent to the TherapyAid Office, not to the individual therapist.

How do I find out I'm eligible for TherapyAid?
