CALM - The Art of Feeling No Thing

I'm sometimes asked which therapy I enjoy practicing the most out of Reflexology, Reiki, Soft Tissue Therapy and Homeopathy.

Apart from the obvious reward of clients feeling better and seeing their symptoms improve, I think maybe it's a moment, rather than a particular therapy that I like best.

There is a beautiful time at the end of a treatment, or a conversation sometimes, when all the burdens, worries and demands that were previously clamouring for someone's attention have melted away.

Paramhansa Yogananda Quote

Recently a Reflexology client said at the end of the treatment: "Calm. I don't think I've ever felt this calm. Not in my whole life".

Once someone has rooted in the centre of their being, those shouty little mind monkeys that make everything so noisy and complicated seem to fall silent.

Their once mighty opinion simply has no place or power in the present.

In that precious gap lays a moment of respite and clarity through which we can experience the peace and the calm of our true nature.

In that moment we are just a human that's being.

We are not our jobs. Not the mother. Not the father. Not the fixer. Not the list maker. Not the stressed person. Not the carer. Not the person that's unwell. Not 'the success'. Not 'the failure'.

We are no thing and every thing.

It's like great big record scratch through it all. In that perfect rest we can rejuvenate, heal and work things through, but without the effort of having to be the controller of it. "Hallelujah! I'm not the doer!", I like to say to myself sometimes.

So, even if it's just for a short time, or it's a brief glimpse, uncovering that sense of perfect peace and empowerment in people - that is my favourite part.
